Welcome to the Delta Golden Wings Website

The Delta Golden Wings, Inc., was organized in November 1968 by the late Captain Tommy Bridges and other retired captains. They felt the need for social organization for both active and retired pilots. The members of Delta Golden Wings have enjoyed keeping in touch with many friends from our “flying past.” We welcome active Delta pilots and retired Delta pilots, and we encourage you to join us to enjoy the benefits of keeping in touch with your many Delta pilot friends.

The “Application for Membership” is available on this website.

Our annual reunion is held in a different city each year. The event lasts for 3-4 days. We start out with a welcome dinner for all attendees. For the next two days we tour local attractions and collect in the DGW hosted hospitality room to meet new members and catch up with old acquaintances. We close with an annual meeting and dinner. In 2019, the reunion was in Philadelphia, PA. In 2020, the reunion was cancelled due to COVID-19. In 2021, the reunion was in Nashville, TN. In 2022, the reunion was in Dallas/ Fort Worth, TX. In 2023 we will be in Charleston, SC and 2024 is scheduled for Dayton, OH. No firm dates yet.

Our annual DGW Fly-in/Drive-In HAS BEEN POSTPONED UNTIL WE CAN FIND A SUITIBLE LOCAL AIRPORT. It has been in May each year. People fly in their private airplanes or drive in their vintage cars, or just come to see the planes and cars.
The Delta Golden Wings Christmas Party will be held in the Dallas/FT. Worth area
for 2023. It is set for Thursday, December the 14th, at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport
Marriott @ 8440 Freeport Parkway, Irving, Texas 75063. Event details are not yet available but if you would like further information the contact person is: Jim Baird 214-357-8084 or jimbaird@swbell.net. Hotel accommodations are also available through DGW at a discounted rate.

In 2018 the DGW Board of Directors approved a $1500 scholarship to be awarded to a deserving flight candidate participating in the Youth Aviation Program (YAP) sponsored by the Candler Field Museum in Williamson, Georgia. As career pilots, this is our opportunity for us to “give back”. We want to encourage young people to pursue their dream of becoming pilots by earning their Private Pilot license.
In addition, there are different local breakfast and lunch groups that meet throughout the country. Their location and time can be found on this website.
The website provides a summary of our history since the founding. Once you are a member, you will have our membership roster so that you can reconnect with many who have retired before you.
Again, welcome to our website. Read on, and we encourage you to join!
